Happy Halloween!

Halloween has been a long time coming in our house this year. We decorated the house towards the end of September, before I was scheduled to have my ankle surgery. Then the surgery got canceled. So we made some crafts, made some yummy food, including sugar cookies in the shapes of pumpkins, bats, and leaves. The kids also frosted the cookies and Jase discovered that green and orange make brown (kinda - I think it was more of a puke green and I couldn't eat any of those cookies :)).

Then we had our annual trunk or treat at church and we all had fun. Jase had his school Halloween parade and party. And now finally tonight, trick or treating around our block. It is a cold one out, but I am glad it stopped raining.

We have one pretty sweet and adorable puppy dog, and one protective turtle named Leonardo. Thankfully with him around we stay safe!

Halloween

This year for Halloween we got together with our good friends and had dinner, let the kids play, and then went trick or treating.

Jase was super excited to be Iron man and Meghan was a scarecrow.

Here are some of the shots from the evening...

Halloween!

Over the last week we've had several fun activities leading up to Halloween.

We made pumpkin and bat sugar cookies. Jase loves cutting out sugar cookies and frosting them. He finally figured out that cookie dough is yummy to eat, while other "dough" isn't (ie-bread, pizza, and pie). It is really cute to see the distinctions form of what is "good" and "bad".

Daddy and Jase made a bat mobile - not the one for batman though... Some of the bats have glow-in-the-dark eyes and the moon at the top glows too.

Then there was the wonderful Halloween box from Grandpa and Grandma. It came with candy, toys, and a book!

Thursday Jase's class had their fall party and Joe and I went to spend some time with Jase's class and have some goodies. Like usual, we forgot the camera... Most all the kids had crowns on and vests from paper bags. It was cute!

Everything led up to Halloween night nicely. Same as Thursday, I forgot the camera while we were out trick-or-treating. We happened to run into the Colver's as we were starting out, so we enjoyed their company as we went along for a bit. We ended the night with the trunk-or-treat at church. When we got home I got a couple pictures of the kids. Jase was a dragon and Meghan was tinker bell. What a cute pair!

Jase got quite a bit of candy - more than he needs. Meghan got some, but she doesn't need it either (nor do we). Jase picked out 2 pieces of candy and ate them. Then he headed off to bed. He was coughing on and off for a bit and I thought it was because he spent time outside (allergies). Anyways when Joe went in to check on him, this is what he found:

He had coughed so hard that he threw up, but he didn't let us know. So we had to clean it up and having the lights on woke up Meghan, etc. It seemed like a long night. At least both kids slept in until 7:45a! That hasn't happened in over a year...

Boo at the Zoo

We weren't able to attend the Madsen's 4th Annual Donut party as Meghan was sick again (sinus infection). Joe got a couple free tickets to Boo at the Zoo from his one class, so Jase and daddy headed off to the zoo.

There was a man that had a pet opossum. It even gave him kisses - yuck!

Jase held a cockroach in his hand...

Jase loved the ice carving and spent a long time watching.

Here's our little dragon walking around the cemetary

I love this last picture: the red eye of the donkey really adds to the eeriness of Halloween at the Zoo!

Happy Halloween

Halloween was extra great to our family dinosaur, Jase.

He had a blast going trick or treating in the University Farms subdivision in West Lafayette, with his friends Ashton, Dominic, Will, Chris, and Alahna. After going door to door, we went to our Church's trunk or treat and had more fun and candy. On the way home we stopped by Heather's supervisor's house to trick or treat one last time. It was there that Jase got not only candy, but he got to pick out 5 Thomas the Train car sets. Jase was so happy that he didn't even care about the candy anymore (well not until the next morning when we wouldn't let him have candy until he had a nutritious breakfast and had eaten his vitamin). Jase even slept with the trains...

Meghan was dressed as a duck, all in yellow, although she spent the whole evening in the front carrier, asleep - what a life!

Pumpkin cleaning

We decided to finally carve up the pumpkins for Halloween. It was quite fun to watch Jase look at the pumpkin "guts" reach in and barely touch them, and then pull his hand out really fast. He worked much better with a spoon, and some help from daddy.

Here we are cleaning the pumpkins...

You will have to wait a little longer to see the faces, and Jase and Meghan in their costumes...
