Meghan

Meghan is such a funny girl. She loves to cook, clean, play with most any toys, dress up and/or change her clothes several times each day, and dance and sing all over the house.

Here are some pictures from the last month or so. She can't wait for our baby to arrive in 4 months. She is practicing with her doll.

She has been drawing pictures with the baby in my belly and Joe asked her the one time what the baby's name was and she said "Sam". We all are calling the baby Sam for now, but it most likely won't stick.

And jumping on her bed is a favorite past-time, but she is now forbidden as she has broken several of her bed slats in the process. She loved jumping from on her dresser onto her bed.

This spring we found a couple small snakes in the front yard by the flower beds. The kids loved watching them and grabbing them by their tail.

They really tried hard to get the second snake, but he was wound through the thatch layer of the grass and I think he would have been pulled into pieces if I didn't stop them. I'm not a huge fan of snake's, but ones this size are ok.

As long as they aren't rattlesnakes, like the Michigan rattlesnakes we used to have at the house I grew up at in Michigan. Each spring we would find ~10 baby rattlesnakes, but never the adults. It was amazing to see the little bugger's (less than a foot long) try and shake their rattles and strike at anything that got close - like the shovel. The DNR at the time told us to either chop them in half or capture them in a jar and take them in to them for disposal, since they were in our yard...

Meghan and her love for dogs

As many of you may know, Meghan has a huge heart and lots of love for most any furry, four-legged creature, but especially for dogs. I swear that child has a dog radar that covers at least one city block. She always knows where the dogs are and always wants to stop and pet them. Most of the dogs in our neighborhood are friendly and the owners are very cautious if their dog doesn't like kids (they always cross the street before passing us).

Jase's best friend has a golden retriever, Clara, whom Meghan adores and loves to walk on the leash (whether in their fenced in backyard or in the house).

Meghan also loves going to Gramma Fick's house, because there she has 3 doggies to play with (actually just 2, Mitzi and Molly, as Sam is more stand-off-ish). Here are some pictures I took this summer when on vacation. Meghan was in heaven having Molly on the leash and running with her all over the large front and backyard.

This first one is my favorite!

Here Meghan is singing (her second favorite thing).

Ice Skating lessons

Jase and Meghan started ice skating lessons this last week.

They are in different classes due to their ages, but both are in beginner lessons.

Joe took them and said they did pretty well, since they have have never had ice skates on their feet before.

Jase fell some and Meghan fell alot.

They were very excited to come back home and tell me all about it.

They can't wait for next week!

I am grateful that Joe remembered the camera and took these pictures for me to see them in "action". Thanks Love!

Hair

Meghan's hair has grown alot lately. It is really getting long and is still really fine and light light blonde. Now if only she would leave in her ponytail, pigtails, or hair clips...

My silly kids

Jase and Meghan love to wrestle (until someone gets pinned, then someone gets bit, and crying ensues...). It is cute when they are playing well together and loving each other.

Also, we won't be moving anytime in the real near future, for those of you that care...

What we're up to...

It has been a while since I've posted. We've been really busy and the blog has sadly lost priority in our day to day life.

Right now we are busy with school, work, daycare, more school, job interviews, college applications, etc. I hope to work on updating the blog with time - just not sure when :)

Here is a cute picture of Meghan earlier this summer with some of our harvest of summer squash - she loved "cooking" with them!

Peanut butter sandwiches and Sundays

Peanut butter sandwiches are a staple in my household. Jase eats one with homemade strawberry jam every night before bed (even after eating a good dinner 1-2 hours before) - the kid must be growing like crazy...

A couple Sunday's ago they were having just peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, before church, after baths (not a good way to do it), no jam, just one slice of bread with peanut butter on it. This is what Meghan looked like about 5 minutes into eating it:

I think she was giving herself a facial...

At least it stayed out of her hair. Here is what she looked like 10 minutes later:
(gotta love that cheese smile; now if only she'd keep her hair done, instead of pulling them out and her hair at the same time...)

Meghan didn't get a nap that Sunday, so as soon as we got home, we had dinner. While we were finishing dinner, Meghan went over to the couch with her blanket and book to wait for mom or dad to come read to her. She fell asleep in about 1 minute...

I thought it would just be an early bedtime, but she woke up 2 hours later (at 7:15p) wide awake...

Reading

Meghan loves to read and she loves her babies, so it was no surprise to see her reading to her baby the other day.

This baby's name is Davy (after the David Shannon books, No David, David gets in trouble, etc) - these are her favorite books right now... The book she is reading to Davy is a baby animal touch and feel book and she was having her baby touch the animals - so cute!

Here is Meghan rocking her baby asleep - she will be an amazing mother one day... (sorry it is sideways)

Swinging

We have this toddler swingset and slide that we bought 3 years ago for Jase. Meghan likes it, but she is out growing the swing (aka she can't go high enough on it). To help document her love of swinging, here is exhibit A...

Randomness

Meghan loves to get her hair done and feel all girly...

Then the hand goes to the hair...

And the pigtail, ponytail, or clips come out (all in about 1 minute or less).

Jase loves his action figures and having them fight.

Jase laying on his bed.

Meghan in a strange sleeping position.

Jase pushing Meghan on our small toddler swing.

Meghan loves to swing, we really need to build a big swing set.

Photo catch up post #3

A few more random pictures...

Joe sleeping on the kids bed when we were cleaning the house one Saturday afternoon.

Jase loves wearing Daddy's headlamp at bedtime so he can read, draw, and color.

One of the strange locations and positions that Meghan has fallen alseep in since moving out of the crib.

Jase and Meghan camping out on the dining room floor watching a movie on the computer.

Meghan is quite the accessory girl. She loves putting on clothes, over clothes, etc. Here she has daddy's socks on...

Meghan relaxing on the pack n' play (or being an inch worm, I'm not sure which).

Jase with his mega block creation (this was before he got real legos for his birthday).
