Mother's Day Cookout

We had a great Mother's Day! After spending the morning at Church, we enjoyed a nice quiet afternoon together. Then we had 3 other families (Hubert's, Weber's, and South's) join us in our backyard for a cookout. Each of the families had a child around Jase's age (2) and he knew them pretty well, so it worked out wonderfully.

We had yak and venison burgers -thanks Mike and Michelle:), hotdogs, potato salad, lime and pineapple jello pretzel salad, cake and ice creams cones, and kool-aid and soda. Lots of food and tons of fun!

The kids were adorable, especially with their ice cream cones. Here is Ashton, Jase, and Emily with their cones...
Hopefully we can do something just as fun for Father's Day and all the other holidays coming up.

Bug catchin'

After Jase's birthday party, we tried to catch a frog to put in Jase's bug "barn", but all the frogs were hiding at the bottom of the lily pond. So, we resorted to trying to find a bug and the only one we could find was a cricket. But he was super happy to have something in his barn, to carry around.

Ultrasound

We're having a.....baby! We had our 20 week ultrasound on May 3. Everything is looking great - mommy and baby are healthy and growing. No, everybody always asks if we are finding out if the baby is a boy or girl, but we want another surprise! Who wouldn't want one... plenty of people I guess. Anyway, we are those folks that like to be surprised. Besides we already have all the gear and tons of baby clothes in neutral colors for up to 6 months. I think that is a pretty good start for either a boy or a girl...

Chicago

We've finally made it to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Our visit was on Monday, concluding our trip to Michigan and Jase's birthday party trip. We didn't get any great photos due to not using the flash and not having a tripod (yes I can't stay still long enough for an exposure longer than 1/2 a second. Plus fish and sea creatures usually don't hold still for photos (kinda like kids...).

We ran into a lot of construction leaving Chicago (thankfully it wasn't rush hour) and ended up eating dinner about 1/3 of the way home, at Red Robin . For those of you who have never been to one, they have the best burgers (any kind you could want), bottomless fries, and great freckled lemonade (lemonade with pureed strawberries added). It is a family favorite and Jase is always up for a chesseburger...

Happy 2nd Birthday Jase!

May 3rd was Jase's 2nd birthday - my how the time has flown. We had a nice pizza dinner and Jase got to open his presents from Dad and Mom.

The following morning we left for Michigan to have a party for Jase with family and friends there. The weather was cooler and brisk. Jase loved getting his presents from Grandpa and Grandma (1st photo) and Great-Gramma (2nd) and also loved playing with Great-Gramma's dog, Molly, a one year old Shih Tzu. Jase's favorite outside toy was a ride-on train and the tricycles, although they were a little too big for him still.

Jase and Katelyn (Jase's cousin, 2) eating lunch - who really wants to eat a sandwich and chips when you can have dill pickles and oreo cookies...

The highlight of the weekend was Jase's party on Saturday! He had a train cake (one engine, 3 cars, and a caboose) and had a difficult time keeping his fingers out of the frosting (each time he walked by, he poked it).

Everyone
had a lot of fun watching the little ones run around and play and have a good time. Below is Lucy, Jase's 2nd cousin - almost 3, waiting for cake., followed by Jase, Haley (2nd cousin - 5), and Katelyn.

It was gre
at to see family and friends, most of whom we haven't seen since Christmas.

Some of the presents Jase recieved included a scooter, puzzles, roller skates, clothes, remote control car, bug catchin' kit, Deigo jeep, Lego helicopter, bowling set, fishing tackle/tool box, and more. He wasn't too interested in his clothes, but he thought the clothes hanger made a terrific hammer.
