Two Things...

I (Heather) was tagged by my best friend, Joellen, so here are some random things about me:

Two names I go by:
1) mommy/momma
2) wifey

Two things I am wearing right now:
1) wonderfully soft pj pants
2) my fuzzy leather slippers (a must have with hardwood floors)

Two of my favorite things to do:
1) sew
2) play with my hubby and kids

Two things I want very badly at the moment:
1) really chocolaty brownies (I just made some, now waiting to cool)
2) a solid 8 hours of sleep (Meghan sleeps it, but I don't go to bed when she does, and the times she has slept 10 hours, I sleep for 5 hours and then wake up every 30-45 minutes waiting for her to wake up -ugh)

Two favorite pets I've had:
1) Tara, my first dog, an English Springer Spaniel
2) Fluffy, my enormously fat cat from my childhood (seriously she weighed like 25lbs)

Two things I did last night:
1) planned food menus for the weekend (Joe mainly cooks during the week, so I shoehorn the weekend)
2) talked with the missionaries

Two things I ate today:
1) leftover cabbage roll casserole for lunch
2) leftover scalloped potatoes and meatloaf for dinner

Two people I last talked to:
1) Jase
2) Meghan

Two longest car rides:
1) When we moved from Michigan to Montana over New Years holidays
2) When we moved back to Michigan from Montana 6 months later

Two favorite beverages:
1) milkshake
2) yogurt smoothies

I tag (if you haven't been tagged already):

Sad news

It makes me extremely sad to blog that our wonderful Prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints passed away Sunday evening.Pres. Hinckley is the only modern-day prophet I've known since becoming a member of the church in Jan 2002. I grew fond of him immediately (even before I was baptized), and enjoyed his wit and humor, as well as his love and concern for all the children of Heavenly Father. He will be greatly missed here on earth, but I know that he is in a much better place and having a wonderful reunion with his wife, Sister Hinckley. I also pray that Pres. Hinckley's family will be lifted up in prayer during this difficult time (my best friend is part of his family, so this is very relevant and important to me).

That virus is a spider!

Jase, Meghan, and Joseph came to visit me at work on Tuesday. Jase loves to run into my coworkers offices and say hi to everyone, get cookies and candy from the lunchroom/conference room, and drink from the water fountains. Of course my coworkers love to see the kids too. On our way out of the building, Jase stopped and looked at an illustration of the Bacteriophage T4. I asked him if he liked that virus, and he said, "It's a spider!" At least he has an imagination - as the T4 phage has "legs" and I think from his view that is all he could really see.

Jase is a big helper

Jase has always enjoyed grocery shopping with mommy, but lately he has greatly enjoyed carrying the groceries from the door to the kitchen, and then unpacking them. What a big help that is - thanks Jase!

New family toy

We have a fun new toy, a RC car to race. At first I wasn't too sure about it, but I have to admit that it is fun. We drive it around the house and out on the sidewalk and street. Jase loves to chase after it , or have it chase him, kinda like a sheep dog herding sheep.

High school friends

Do any of you blog readers keep in touch with someone you went to high school with? I have kept in touch with a couple of people, and B was my best bud in high school and still is. We have since both gotten married, I've had a couple kids, she's battled cancer and we get along great (with each other and the husbands).

We had the wonderful privilege of having B & P come and stay with us for a couple days during the beginning of January. We had a blast. Heather cooked some great food, we found out what our Brain Age is, went to the Children's museum, and of course played some Dr. Mario (by linking 2 game boys together - this is our favorite past time for the 4 of us to do) and Mario Golf on the Gamecube.

Jase just loves them, even though he has only seen them a handful of times. Within a couple of hours of their arrival, he was calling them Grandpa and Grandma, so you know he loves them a lot!

Snow, cold days, and hot chocolate

Do your kids love drinking hot chocolate? Jase loves it, especially if he's been out playing in the snow. These were taken a few weeks ago, during the last significant snow we got (since then it's been in the 60's and now it is close to 0F, with very cold wind chills, -20F).

Crib sleeping is going...

terrific! She is sleeping a solid 8-9 hours before waking to nurse. And as a bonus, last night she didn't even cry before falling asleep and it was only the second night.

Meghan is a thumb sucker

Isn't that just adorable! I never knew a baby sucking a thumb could be so cute (way cuter than a pacifier - which she absolutely detests.

As some of you know, Meghan has started scooting and wiggling out of her car seat at night (she was sleeping in it to be upright due to head colds), so tonight was her first night sleeping in her crib, without her car seat. She was happy for the first 30 minutes and then she let loose. Not a happy camper. We didn't pick her up and would go and console her every 5-10 minutes. After about 40 minutes she finally fell asleep. I'll post tomorrow and let you all know how the whole went...

Train track - one of many

Jase has many Geo Trax sets and pieces (along with Thomas too) and this is one of my favorite designs yet. You can tell that Jase loves his trains!

Christmas morning at home is...

so relaxing and peaceful, even with 2 kids. We had an enjoyable and lazy day, playing with the fun gifts we got from each other. Jase got a real fun Magtastic magnet set for toddlers, a dinosaur magna doodle, and clothes. Meghan got the Leapfrog Brightlings Beginnings and the Tiny Love Grip and Grasp tray. Joseph got a Petzl Tactikka headlamp and a warm winter coat and super cozy sweats from LLBean. Here he is in both the headlamp and sweats...
I was the grateful recipient of a Faberware 14" non-stick skillet (think wok sized) for my new desire of learning to cook asian food, a new Uphill work bag, pjs, and a cookie press.

A great Christmas was had by all.
