Warning: this is a loooonnngg post...
Back in May we made a visit to the Indy zoo. We love the zoo and since we only went once last year (before our membership expired), we got a membership this year (we get one every other year).
We love the sea lions!

Meghan was in complete awe of them (the last time we went to a zoo, she was only 7 months old, so this was a fun experience for her).

After the sea lion show the trainers brought one of the sea lions out for us to meet and see up close - it was really neat!

Then we went to the dolphin show (which Meghan wouldn't sit for and Jase wasn't interested in - I think he's seen it enough to not be really interested in it - he likes the dome much more).

And the flamingos of course - this was when we stopped to eat our picnic lunch...

Lemurs

Feeding the giraffes is a must each zoo visit. I love how long their tongues are!

Meghan had no fear when feeding it.

Jase is a pro at giraffe feeding...

There is a huge vulture there with the hoofed plains creatures...

We also like to watch the elephant get a bath/shower, although this time we didn't stick around to touch the elephant afterward...

The lions were right at the fence this time... (Has anyone else noticed that they added a second fence (the outside chain link fence) to the lion exhibit in the last year? I overheard someone saying that the Zoo had to do it because someone was calling poking a hat at the lions and one of the lionesses rushed the fenced and got her head and one shoulder out of the fence. I also noticed a lot more zoo personal around the lion exhibit, monitoring visitors).

More elephants - eating this time.

Joe and the kids at the shark pool.

We love the sharks (I just read that 15 sharks have died because of too much ozone in the water - sad).

I love the polar bears - they are my favorites, along with the giraffes.

Leaving the zoo...

At the butterfly exhibit...

I didn't get many nice pictures at the butterfly exhibit because the kids were completely tired and unruly at this point...
Proof their tiredness...and a quite ride home!
